Autodesk previews PlassoTech, Moldflow amalgamation

Autodesk Inc. (San Rafael, CA) has launched a preview of its Autodesk Inventor Plastic Features Technology on Autodesk Labs. This preview version showcases new technology that reportedly simplifies plastic products design by allowing designers and engineers to automatically create thin-walled plastic parts and features such as grills, rests, bosses, snaps, lips, grooves, and fillets. The new program combines Autodesk industrial design products with recently acquired PlassoTech product simulation technology and Moldflow injection molding simulation technology. Calling plastics “one of the fastest-growing engineering materials,” Robert Kross, senior VP of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions, said the new program increases productivity and innovation. For a limited time the Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview is available free from Autodesk Labs at the Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview page .
